The new channel of the Buffalo River south of Hwy 10 is now opened also.  The contractor, Sellin Brothers, has been working to restore the river channel since the end of November.  This areal photo was taken in December.  Thanks you to Luther Aadland and Amanda Hillman of the DNR, Bruce Albright, Buffalo Red River Watershed District, Ted Rud and Erik Jones Engineers and the Hawley Golf Clubfor all their work and cooperation on this important project.  This project is 100% funded by the MN Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment through the MNDNR Stream Habitat Program-Lessard-Sam's Outdoor Heritage Council.  This will help reconnect and restore the watershed and lessen erosion and flooding problems.
